The New Normal In The World Of Fashion

Surprising, isn’t it? How things turn around. In just a period of one year, what first seemed like an enforcement turned out to be an exquisite fashion statement. Well, look at that!

It’s loud and clear that we no longer only wear face masks for the reason of its invention - protection against covid-19 – but for other varieties of reasons such as telling a story, fashion, among others.

For instance, celebrities wear them on their social media handles, red carpets and so on. And while some simply wear them to catch fun, others use them to send messages and make bold statement- an example is in supporting movements like Black lives matter.

Not only that, facemasks took a ground in the politics where celebrities like Haley Bieber, Demi Lovato and others were spotted at the polls wearing face masks with ‘Vote’ written boldly on them as a means of sending a message to American citizens to go out and vote, reminding them that their voice counts.

What’s more! Face masks, no doubt have dominated the fashion world- what’s an outfit without a matching and stylish face mask to complete it? Well, if we have to wear them at all, we might as well wear them elegantly, make the best of them and have fun doing so, don’t you think?

That’s not all. Here’s another interesting part, the term face masks appeared to be one of the most searched phrases in search engine with approximately 11 searches per second. Isn’t that something!

There’s no denying the fact that face masks are part of the new normal! And if there was anything as a yearly theme, 2020’s would be face mask.

Let’s hope our only reason for wearing them in 2021 would soon turn out to be by choice only.
