The world is adapting to the normalcy of face masks—here’s how your beauty routine can too. While putting on makeup right now might seem unnecessary to some people, it can make a huge difference in creating a sense of normal and navigating these overwhelming circumstances. For essential workers and people starting to integrate back into society, adjusting your beauty routine to incorporate a giant chunk of cloth covering half your face can pose a new challenge. Bold eye makeup, waterproof foundation, and plenty of moisturizer are some of the many ways people around the world are adapting their styling and beauty routines to the ubiquity of face masks. 1. Curl your lashes and apply a few coats of mascara. Heavy eyeliner is a quick way to close your eyes up. The goal is to open up your eyes when wearing a face mask, so makeup artists advise skipping the liner entirely and opting for mascara instead. Always make sure to start with curling your lashes. 2. Focus on your eyes while wearing a face mask, with eyeliner, brow liner, and mascara. Framing the face is important, especially when we are just seeing the eyes. 3. Use a waterproof foundation or seal it with makeup-setting spray to keep it from smudging throughout the day. 4. More moisturizer and sticking to natural shades while wearing a mask makes touch-ups easier. 5. Apply lip balm instead of lipstick Opt for balm instead of lipstick to keep your lips hydrated. The friction against the face mask is extremely irritating, resulting in the constant licking of lips, which can damage the epidermal skin barrier. Using a lip balm containing humectants and occlusive agents, such as shea butter, provides a protective barrier to keep lips from drying during your face mask.
